Mars Hill Cafe, HomeWord Heat of 2006 State Library Poetry Slam

OneWord will become HomeWord for one night only in November, at the Parramatta heat of the NSW State Library's 2nd annual Poetry Slam. Contestants will be given just two minutes to wax lyrical on a topic of their choice at the slam on
Friday, November 24, at 8.30pm (for a 9pm start).



As usual, no music or props are allowed. NWG Inc's Vice-President Nathan Judd will emcee the heat (one of three city heats of the State Library Slam), with special guest Citizen Tom. Two winners from the heat will progress to the final at the State Library in early December, where they will go in the running for $1000 in prizes. In an exciting twist, city contestants will also go up against contestants from the country in 2006.

One Word, Spoken Word open mic night will be on Friday 27 October 2006. Come along to be entertained or to entertain!!! Come to One Word, a terrific spoken word night on Friday 29 September, around 8.30 pm and be sure to be entertained! You can perform or you can just listen. Come along again to One Word, our latest Spoken Word night on Friday 25 August, around 8.30 pm. Last month was great with Daniel Hopkins as our guest performer and this month is sure to be as good as the last. Read, perform your original work, lyrics, songs, anything you like, or your favourite pieces of writing by others. Or you can just come along to listen! We hope to see you there! Come along to the July Spoken Word open mic event at 8:30 pm on Friday the 28th of this month. Last month's Spoken Word night was very entertaining and this month is sure to be the same. We are located at Mars Hill Cafe, opposite Brand Smart, at 331 Church Street, Parramatta. The night is open to do what you want to do - read or perform your original work, lyrics, songs, or perhaps you may like to perform, recite or read your favourite pieces of writing by other authors/artists. Or, perhaps you would just like to listen to others. See you there!

At One Word Friday, on 24th Feb 2006 Bravo Child performed his poetry to a packed audience. Bravo Child was the winner of the Sydney Poetry Slam and is a member of House-Cat Havoc, masters of The Word Wrestling Federation title of 2005. Our other special feature act was THE ROOKS from Cabramatta.
